Writing can be a mindful practice where you become more aware of your thoughts and feelings.
Your immediate priorities, thoughts, concerns, goals, short- and long-term tasks become laid out in front of you.
In addition to jotting down my daily happenings and thoughts in my journal/daily notes, I also track my mood (in Daylio; not sponsored).
Combining the two gives me a really good idea of my past mental states, thoughts, concerns, and life direction. I use this information to see how far I've come and what progress I've made with various goals. I also try to identify what grants me joy and value to my life.
Quite useful when I'm doing some life planning.
