Why I’m Starting a Substack Alongside Memory Repository

Reading time: 1 min

I’ve been writing on Memory Repository for a long time.

It’s been a useful place to think in public and keep notes. I treat it as a digital garden. I genuinely use it as a reference for reminders, things I’ve learned, and frameworks I’ve built or tested over the years.

One limitation is that it’s effectively a blind box. There are no comments, no view counts, and very little feedback. Apart from the guestbook, it’s mostly a one-way exchange. I’m thinking in public, but there’s limited opportunity for agreement, critique, or correction to come back to me.

I’ve recently started a Substack.

The reason is simple. It allows comments, basic metrics, and conversation. That feedback loop helps me improve my thinking, ideas, and writing.

Memory Repository will remain what it has always been. An archive, and a place for new rough notes and experiments.

Substack is where I’ll publish more polished versions of some posts, along with new, more considered writing. I’m hoping a small community can form where ideas can bounce back rather than disappear into the void.

If you’d like to follow along or leave comments or feedback, you can find it here:

Over the years, I still occasionally receive guestbook entries here. The occasional reaction too.

They always surprise me, and I genuinely look forward to reading them. I’m hoping Substack comments become another place for that kind of exchange.
